Assuming this is the same on the U20 as it is on the R16 (and that's a
dangerous thing, I know), the shaft in the distributor tower that turns
the oil pump and meshes with the jackshaft (see, I know a little about
U20 engines) can go in has an off-center slot on the top. Because
there are an even number of teeth (I assume) it can go in two different
ways and still be "correct" but the distributor can only go in one way
based on the position of the off-center slot. The shaft is 180 degrees
different between your engine and the other one, so the distributor
wires are 180 degrees off on the other car to compensate. Shouldn't
affect performance.
