An easy way to tell if there is an air leak is to mix up some
dishwashing liquid in a bucket or bottle with water.  Pour
it over the tire bead and on the valve stem.  The soap will
make foaming bubbles where there is an air leak.  A quick
tip I learned at a tire shop.  It will pin point a leak(s) fast.
