I thought that it was "Feeble Italian Attempt at Technology" myself. But,
truth be told, X1/9s are pretty stiff competition in twisty short
autocrosses when they are properly sorted and well driven.
On the bolts, I was under the impression that later carbs used metric while
early used standard. Am I mistaken?
