Those are called the Spider gears in the Differential. The Axles pass
through and are splined with the Spider Gears. With the same size tires
the axles turn together, and when you turn a corner the axles turn at a
different rate of speed, so the wheels will not hop around the corner. When
you use a different Circumference of tire the Spider Gears are turning
constantly and Definitely will wear out. So when you have a flat tire, be
sure that the Drive wheels are of the same size. (On the Roadsters with
rear wheel drive you must maintain the same size tires on the rear). On the
Front wheel drives you must maintain the same size tires on the front. Do
not use that donut tire on the drive wheels. Change your tires around so
that donut is not a drive tire. Pat
