As far as what 1600 is the "marquee" version of the 1600, you have to
remember that Nissan made more of the 1600 low windhshield cars than any
other model. I have had a 67.5 1600 and I liked the car a lot. Still, I
think that the 66 1600 is the best example of a low-windshield car there is.
So much beautiful chrome and that awesome dash with the separate gauges. In
67, they came out with the 2000 and the 1600 cars that addressed some of the
EPA and DOT requirements. All the chrome from the interior was either
painted dull grey or removed altogether. Gauges went flat black as did the
dash. Different seats with headrests, sunvisors and some other changes were
made. The big deal of course was the 67 2000 which came out at the same
time.
So the 67 2000 is so valuable because there was only 1000 made before the 68
high windshield cars came. The 67.5 1600 is a nice car too, but more were
made (6000). So while it shares heritage with the 67 2000, the 67.5 1600 is
not quite as valuable. So my idea of the best 1600 would have to be the 66.
Beautiful cars with lots of chrome and the best dash ever put on a roadster.

Okie dokie, now that I have my facts straight, it's opinion time. What
model year 1600 do most of you consider the "marquee" version of the
genre? Aka the 67.5 2000. Is there any particular year that containes
desired mechanicals, body work, etc. that sets it apart from the others?
