Hello all...I owned a '66 1600 from 1977-1979....It was red with one of the
"fastback" hardtops....I wished then and now that I had never sold
it!.....I'm getting back into "Datsun-ism" now and I need some advice.
I called one of the ads Fergus had sent and it "sounds" like a good
deal....Here's what the guy told me:
69 1600 w/hardtop
stored indoors since '88
new paint and hoses
dual carbs "overhauled"
engine overhauled: "oversize" pistons installed (block bored out?)
One thing that he said that concerned me was that after the overhaul, it
would not do over 45 mph....what would cause this? (high compression, carbs
malfunctioning?)...I plan to do a frame up resto...so if its something that
can be diagnosed and fixed its OK.
I'm taking my magnets with me to look for bondo and rust....what else would
you all suggest to look for?
