Excellent write-up Gordon. Incidentally, you can save syncros on the
upshifts as well, double clutching is not required, you just need to make
sure you engage the next gear before the rpm drops below the optimum. By
watching the tach and experimenting a little you will find the rpm delta
between each gear, don't hurry the gear change though as those with bad 2nd
gear syncros know you can get a crunch on upshift. See how smooth you can
be.... Next we will work on our Jackie Stewart technique roaring around the
track whilst keeping the tennis ball in the center of the pie dish taped to
the hood -- talk about balance.
