Hi,
Thought the list might enjoy this vintage race daily posting about the
progress of the Around the World Rally... A Datsun has just moved up to 12th
spot in some pretty good company!

Oldies leader board, the Lagonda is now in 5th place after having to fix a
charging problem (this is after doing an alternator conversion for improved
reliability!) The big old Bentley is now in the lead being chased by the
Packard. The Citroen 2CV in therefore 3rd. Lots of dirt road to drift and
slide the cars on so it sounds like good fun is being had by all, even the
Japanese crew in the old Datsun are smiling ear to ear. The Broderick
Mercedes had a minor fire that required a new harness to be made in a Hotel
car park (well where else would you do that?) The Hunter of the Giles family
is still out in front with the classics 7 mins ahead of the 356 Porsche and
the Aston DB2/4. The Team Healey 3000 of Dyke-Price and Onyett were overtaken
by the Mustang (remind me to talk to him about that!) And the Datsun has
pulled ahead of the XK 140 Jaguar (mmmmmmmmmm) in 12th spot on the
scoreboard. The Hunts in the Team Healeys car are in 26th place only 7 mins
ahead of the MGB. It would appear that the Morgan has solved some of its
problems and is back in the hunt in 43rd position. The lowly SAAB 96 has had
to drop out after problems and the Jaguar Mk1 sits at the bottom of the list
in 51st place some 67 hours behind the time! As a special request another
mention of the Stude, in 49th on the scoreboard. How long can they all go on
like this?
More news later.

Hi Craig
The Datsun is a 410 sedan from 1965, from what I can tell the Japanese guys
inside it are having a real blast in the car and loving every minute. They
end the event in Peking.
