Howdy all,
On Saturday I'm picking up a '66 1600 G Prod. race car.
The engine ran great the last time it was started, but that
was probably five years ago. Owner did nothing to 'pickle'
the engine for storage, but the car has been kept in a dry, warm
garage. The last engine work was performed by a well known
and respected engine builder in the Detroit metro area.
I am concerned about any surface rust that may have developed
on the cylinder walls. At the very least I want to spin up
the oil pump (Tom, I could use one of your oil pump shafts if
you have any available). I should probably pull the head off too.
I'd appreciate any suggestions or tips. I don't want to ruin a
potentially very nice race motor.
