Fred,
I'm sure you're going to get different ideas on this, but my experience was
that trying to rebuild the m.c. was an exercise in futility. The kits are
cheap, but it was worse after I rebuilt it than before. Very dangerous
before and totally deadly after. A new one is about $160 and will last about
100,000 miles. The problem seems to be that the bore in the alumimum cylinder
gets worn bigger and irregular and so the seals just don't fix it. I also
tried to get the thing apart and it seems that the dissimilar metals "weld"
themselves together. Anyway, take your choice, try to rebuild, it will mostly
just cost you time; or buy a new one.
