Any rallyist worth his/her salt knows that it's necessary to do an odometer
calibration leg at the beginning of the rallye. Just because you think
your odometer is accurate (whether it is or not), you can't assume
that the rallymaster's odometer is accurate, or calibrated the same.

The navigator must be able to do the associated conversion in his/her sleep.
