Hi John,
Thanks for the suggestion but this is the strangest solenoid I have seen.
It as a heavy metal body that is crimped to the smaller diameter Bakelite
end with the three terminals and cannot be opened to service. It mounts on
top of the starter and pulls the starter gear into the flywheel as well as
making contact for the starter motor.
It is obviously a rare item but Ron has "jury rigged" another to work for
the time being. Thanks to everyone for their help.
