Warren,
I am not sure who you want to meet here on the net. The club presidents
or just the members? If you want to meet the members of local British car
clubs then you're fine here. Actually this is rather working out like a
club itself, too.
There's a lot of interesting conversations going on. Deep thoughts are
exchanged and some technical knowledge and experience is exchanged with a
high accuracy because you don't have to respond in a fraction of a second
as it would be in a personal communication. You can look up data and
addresses without having to say something like " Er, I think there was
something - I'll look it up and call you tomorrow or we'll meet next
month again." That has some pros and cons of course, but the quality should
be pretty high.
The disadvantages are pretty obvious too. There are no real hands on
activities. There's nothing like saying:" Wait I'll fire up the engine
and you'll see and hear what happens". One can't say some explaining
words and make some points clear avoiding a misunderstanding.
I must say that it is a pretty neat feeling when you're about to meet
somebody you only know in a pen pal fashion! I had a lot of fun meeting
people from the SOLers list! Very nice people.
Cheers,
Gus
