Hi John -
There was a service bulletin out on this fix. I have it on my Midget
and know lots of other britcar owners who do too. The original ignition
module in the 45DM placed the diode pack on the distributor. After awhile
exposure to heat from the block would degrade the diodes. The symptoms
were random ignition cutout at speed, which would go away when the engine
cooled down. The fix was the Lucas kit to move the ignition module to
a remote mount near the coil.
My '79 didn't come from the factory with this fix. I don't know
if it was introduced before the end of production.
