Is there a general concensus as to which type of oil if best to run in the
trans??

I'm particularly interested in the best oil to run in a 1980 Spit trans with
overdrive.

Engine oil is lighter so you will use less engine power, and it is cheaper
(depends on oil type) to change the engine oil in the trans more often.
Will engine oil have enough viscocity for the normal operation of the
overdrive??

BTW, I intend to put this above trans into a 77 Midget. I'm gonna get the
conversion kit from the folk in Nottingham UK when I go back this Christmas.

Cheers DW
