Bit the bullet the other weekend and bought a lumenition (electronic ign) kit
for the 6. Installation went OK and so did static timing. First thing I
noticed was a great improvement in cold starting, as I'm having to use the car
most days to get to work at the moment. However, when I borrowed a strobe to
dynamic time it I found it almost impossible to do. With the revs at 900 my
manual gives an advance of 4-6 deg, With out any alteration the strobe
indicated about 16deg!
When I set the advance as indicated in the manual the engine pinked like mad
and would not run at all. So I reset the timing statically again. Anyone got
any explanations or tips? Anyone had this trouble when putting in electronic
ign?
