I found this on the tiger mail list and wanted to share
a neet idea for pilot bearing removal.
BTW, a really neat trick for getting the pilot bushing out. I wish I could
take credit for it, but I can't. Thanks to Rob Kempenski for this one.
First, I packed the hole through the bushing and the cavity behind it with
axle grease. Then, I found a socket about the same dia. as the ID of the
bushing, put a 3/8 extension into the socket backwards, and tapped with a
hammer. The hydraulic pressure forced the bushing right out. Slickest,
no-special-tool, procedure I've used in a while.
