I have a pair of SU HS2's (Thanks M Habich) that I'm trying to rebuild.
The dash pot and piston were stuck together but I managed to free them
with help from our University's machinist. The problem now is cleaning
the inside of the dash pot. The machinist who used to own a TR3 told me
to use metal polish. But the inside surface has lots of crude and some
corrosion which I don't think a polish can remove. What can I use to
clean it?
Also, I've put a header (Yes, Mr. Woodruff I finally put it on) on my 78
Spitfire and it now miss fires a lot. I'm getting puffs of smoke coming
out of the carb. I think it's a timing problem because I had to remove
the EGR valve when the header was installed. This changed the vacuum setup
and I assume it also affected the timing. Am I on the right track or is
it something else?
