Could someone describe the basic differences between the 1150, 1300, and 1500
engines for the Spitfire? What other LBCs use the same engines? If
I have a 69 Spitfire, what are the odds I >don't< have a 1300 engine?

The reason I ask is that I am having a hell of a time with getting parts
that are appropriate. I bought a kit which contained a timing cover gasket
and the seal which goes around the crankshaft (going through the timing
chain cover). Since I couldn't get the @#$#@# nut off the pulley, I
finally went to a mechanic with an impact wrench. I provided him with
the parts as sold to me, and some oil.

According to him, the seal is about "an inch too big". NAPA lists exactly
the same part for all the Spitfires. TAE lists a different one for 1150,
but the same for 1300 and 1500 (and the part number on the package
corresponds to the 1300/1500 part number).

(Oh, and Victoria British and TRF supposedly give contradictory info).

Help! Thanks
