Thanks for the tip, Josh, but I couldn't convince my partner to help me
drop the sump pan (sigh). Plus it doesn't really seem to be leaking.
However, I want to clean UNDER the engine as well as all around the sides
next time and see "what's up down there". In any case, the sump seal
and timing cover stuff is still unreplaced.
I am suspicious of the crankcase ventilation valve, which I tried to clean,
and the oil cap was very dirty (could have been clogged?) I used WD40
on the valve (since I didn't have any carb cleaner handy) and Castrol
SuperClean on the oil cap. There was some sludge in the CVV and nasty
dirty grime on the outside (but under the vent cap) of the oil cap.
