This excellent advice should be extended to the driver of ANY car with
a standard transmission! You'll be saving not only the throwout bearing,
but the crankshaft thrust bearings!
One of my all-time auto peeves is cars with an interlock built into the
clutch pedal, so it must be depressed before the engine can be started.
Dumb! Dumb! Dumb! At this point the engine has ZERO oil pressure
and gets this unnecessary thrust load on the crankshaft thrust bearings.
Makes me crazy!
