I've gone through this agony twice with the snake's wheel. A gear
puller did the trick both times but gouged the aluminum spokes a bit.
The first time I assumed I'd never have to do it again. The second time
I smeared a little anti-seize grease on the splines before putting the
wheel back on. And yes, I did have to do it again; came right off
with a good yank.
