I installed a TD top once. Admittedly it was a long time ago ('59 or
'60) but I don't recall it being too difficult. In fact, I don't think
the top I bought (from Sears, believe it or not) came with instructions.
My recollection is that it was fastened down with carpet tacks along
the back and sides up to the side curtain openings. I suspect taking
your time is the most important thing. I think I erected the top then
pulled it back tight over the bows and tacked it down starting in the
middle. I suggest starting out with the tacks only partially tapped in
so you can remove them if things aren't lining up right.
