I have a 77 1500OD Spitfire and I had to do the clutch master cylinder seal
about 2 months ago. Whoever had done the job before had put the seal in the
wrong way around. This had worked fine for at least 6 months (I have only
owned it this long). The guy who sold me the seal said that it is common to
put them in the wrong way around. (I nearly did it, and I knew what to look
out for. The rubber seal 'looks' as if it should go on the wrong way).

Check it out.
