I'd like some more net.wisdom on the following:
The car is a 1972 Spitfire Mk. IV, totally original except for paint and an
earlier non-synchro tranny. The clutch was replaced (all 3 pieces) about 5
years
ago, driven a little, then stored until last month. We had little
trouble getting it running again, except that the clutch disc is apparently
sticking to something and won't allow gear changes. The hydraulics check out
fine; we rebled just to make sure. The clutch simply doesn't disengage.
I'm more than content to pull the transmission if necessary; heaven knows I've
done that sort of job often enough. But I'd rather not if anyone has any
suggestions for freeing the clutch.
Any ideas?
BTW, this won't mean much to those in drier, less salty and/or noncoastal
climes, but this car is rock solid. Absolutely no rust anywhere. And it's
always
been a northeast US car.
Oh, one more thing: does anyone know of a source for the center caps for the
factory optional Dunlop BOLT-ON wire wheels? 3 would be nice.
