Taking Tilly, my TR6, on an outing with the local Triumph Club
Sunday, I noticed my Lucas (sorry, it is not "original" Smith)
Amp meter misbehaving. Specifically, I started up and the needle
swung wide to the right -Discharge side of the gauge and STAYED
there! (Actually, I have noticed this a couple of other times.)
I then (Ned, notice this next comment) used my finely honed
diagnostic skills developed through diligent reading of the
british-cars digest, to obtain some relevant information
about this current (pun intended) malady with my meter. --
That means, I banged on the meter a couple of times, whence,
it swung back to its proper near mid-gauge position.
After having diagnosed, and repaired albeit temporarily, the
meter, I am curious as to "Why does the needle swing and Stick
^^^^^
to the right discharge-side of the meter?"
Obligatory Ned coaching:
Point 1. Joining the local Triumph club has been a
great way for me to improve my skills and car. For even the most
trivial outing, folks pop their bonnets and peer into them moving
back and forth from one car to a similar car. It is kind of funny
to watch, I am told my a brit-car owners wife, as I pulled my
head from under her husband's TR6 bonnet. (Incidentally, that trip
under his TR6 bonnet taught me what two unknown wires are for on my car.)
Point 2. After reading about other's sworking conditions, I work
in apparent brit-car heaven. First, I store Tilley in my ex-wife's
garage 1 block away (presently, my garage is filled with a couple of motorcycles
experiencing customization), and my collection of Craftsman tools
has FINALLY exceeded the capacity of a modest sized tool box.
Tally Ho!
