Jim,

Thanks for the comments regarding shocks.  I was looking at the latest
Roadster Factory sale sheet and there is only a $15 difference between
Koni and Spax, with Spax at $85 each.  Interestingly, they also list a
Spax with adjustable spring seat at $99 (same price as the koni) for the
front end of the spitfire (vehicle in question here).  You could really
keep yourself busy frobbing and tweaking with those!
