Hmmm. It sounds to me like the problem was in the master cylinder, not in
the booster. After all, the brake fluid had to be leaking to begin with in
order for the (otherwise properly functioning) booster to fill up, right?
This was the problem with the famous 1980 Malibu I described some months ago,
driven nonetheless by a very determined lady who used her left foot to pry up
the brake pedal as she used her right foot to apply the gas.
