I have a 1961 Daimler Dart (SP-250) which overheats so much that_
it is no pleasure to drive. After driving more than 25 minutes,
the temp guage goes to 200F. After more driving the guage starts
to move on up. I do not believe the guage is in error.

On a hot day (over 90F) you can hear water boiling inside when
engine is turned off. I have checked timing, I have removed
the radiator-->run water through it and it seems to flow ok but,
I am not sure how much flow I should see. I can not look into
the radiator and see condition of core based on construction style.
The tanks are on the sides of the radiator, not top and bottom.
Since the car is 31 yrs old could the radiator fins be so covered
that they allow too little heat transfer?

Also the oil pressure at idle when cold is over 30psi and increases
upon rev up but once the engine gets hot the idle pressure is almost
but not quite nonexistent. Revup (over 2000rpm) when hot gives me 20
to 30psi. I use the Mobil 1 15w50 weight.

QUESTION: Is my little V8 shot? Has anyone tried the "Block Tester"
which has a chemical that changes color from blue to yellow if there
is the presence of CO2 in the radiator (supposedly if you have a
cracked head gases willl enter the cooling system.) Any other
suggestions? Thanks for any help in this matter.

THANKS TO T.J. Higgins for uploading the GIF. Hopefullly I can
download it.
