My TR4A engine had stuck pistons after sitting idle some 10+ years. The rings had essentially fused themselves to the liners and no amount of oil/pounding would free them. Attempting to press them out at a machine shop freed two of them, but resulted in splitting the other two liners... Some $500.00 later I had a shiny new set of pistons and liners. If I encounter this again, I'll opt to sacrifice the piston and remove it bit-by-bit in order to save the liner. -Steve- |
