Hi
I'm following up a suggestion by sfisher to reconsider my MGB's rear
axle gearing....
I am interested in increasing the rear end (numerical) gearing in my
69 MGB. However, I haven't found any crownwheel/pinions available for
the tube-type rear end other than the stock 3.9 ratio and the V8 3.1 ratio.
The earlier banjo-type rear end has a variety of ratios available. A 4.3
ratio looks like it might suit my requirements.
I have a few questions for the Collective Body of LBC Wisdom:
1) are there any other tube ratios available?
1b) is it really such a pain to disassemble/reassemble tube axles?
2) how easy is it to swap out a tube axle for a banjo axle? (for wire wheels)
2b) any other advantages/disadvantages of banjo over tube? weight?
3) does any one have any experience/comments about the Quaife LS axle sets.
THANKS
John Sanders
