That is the original Elite from the Fifties.  Nelson's is the second use of 
the name in the mid-Seventies.

So are replacement Lotus frames for Europa and Elan (though I am told the 
aftermarket tube frames for Elan are stronger).

I don't know if Lotus stocks frames for Elites, but if Nelson's frame is OK, 
why spend the money.  If he is willing to strip the frame of all parts, either
full galvanizing or a bridge-paint job would work.  The stuff the bridge
painters use is toxic as hell while being sprayed, so let them have the frame.
There is so much zinc involved, it acts sacrificial like a full galvanizing
job.
