David burns lots of oil!!

I had a Fiat Spyder which also used alot of oil but did puff smoke and did not
leaves too much of an oil stain on the drive. I think it used to leak more when
I was driving the car, in other words, most of the lost oil was when the engine

was running.

You are losing about two and half milliliters of oil every mile if you
are leaking all the oil. Chaces are you are not so if you burn some lets say
you leak about 2 cc (2 milliliters) of oil per mile at the most. Each cc
of oil is equivalent to about 25 average size drips. So you drip about 50
drips each mile. So you drip one drip about every 33 meters MAX. That does
sound alot but it is not unfeasible. If the car mainly leaks while running
would would not see much oil on the drive as you probably run it on the road mor
e than in the drive.

I would have a GOOD look under the car so see if there are any oil slick
s under there, then fix a small container under where the slick is. After a
1 or 2 mile journey you should have about 50-100 drips at the MAX.

Also if the oil drips on the exhaust pipe (as it did with my Fiat) it
just goes up in smoke and you don't get much of a drip plus the exhaust pipe
stayed fairly dry. The only way I knew it did this was because there was a
hole in the gear stick gater and smoke would enter the car through this hole
when oil dripped on the hot pipe.
