Spur of the moment post. My office window overlooks a main
drag, and I just saw something: Y'know that cheap plastic trim
that places like Pep Boys sell to the folks ("mouth-breathers"
someone on the list called them) who want to call attention to
their vehicle without actually investing real money and labor?
Things like wiper arm blades and boots, rearview mirrors, license
plate frames, all in the pink or green that was called "day-glo"
in the seventies but has been resurrected as "neon".
Just this moment saw a TR7 (fixed head) go by, liberally
festooned with the pink version of this stuff. Everything that
could have been so treated was, including the bumpers.
Imagine giving an English Sheepdog a French Poodle clip complete
with pink bows and you'll have an idea how this looked. Is it
possible for a car to look embarrassed? If so, this one looked
humiliated.
