TJ, I put an overdrive transmission in my '68 BGT last year.  You will be
very happy ;*)  OD drops the revs 500 RPM.  The car feels a LOT better on the
freeway.  I reused my old drive shaft and have had no known problems.

Now if it would just stop raining so I can replace the Land Rover engine so
I can get back to thr TR!!! :*(
