Ahh... it's good to be back on the net again. Between a heavy work load
and numerous sysadm problems, I haven't been around very much.
Oh yeah - fuel pumps. For something as thursty as a Corba, you probably
want a high volume rotary vane pump. The electronic diaphragm pumps are
OK for LBCs, but may cause a big engine to run lean :-(.
My Aston AMV8 was originally equipped with a dual chamber SU diaphragm
pump (same as was used on the carburetted V-12 E-Types). Every year,
someone writes into the Aston Martin magazine about how reliable their
SU fuel pump had been for years until one day it left them stranded in
some extremely remote place. My SU fuel pump started leaking so I
decided to replace it with a Mallory rotary vane pump. The Mallory pump
comes in a small and a large size. I got the large size; it was about
$100. Easy to install. After 3 years, no problems. I could buy a spare
Mallory pump as still be off much cheaper than than the _rebuild_ cost
on the SU. The SU is now in my concours junk box along with the lever
shocks (I converted to Konis).
