Bob Lang commented on seeing a few Brit cars at the Boston
World of Wheels show. There was a World of Wheels show here in
Atlanta two weekends ago which also had a few British surprises.
Hidden among the restored 60s muscle cars was a nice looking
MGB/GT -- complete with original window sales sticker. Looked
rather plain in comparison with other cars in the show. Down
another aisle was a special "not part of the show" display done
by the local MG club. In order down the line were nice examples
of MGB, then MGA, then TF, then TD, then TC, then Midget (the '30s
version, not the "modern" type which was missing from the display).
All seemed nicely done, and appeared to be drivers rather than
exclusive show cars (even the older one looked ready for selected
club outings). Interesting was the display method used. Almost
all cars in the show were roped off away from reach of touching
hands. The MG display was open, you could walk up and lean in
for a good look (and yes idiots were touching -- can't folks look
without leaving fingerprints!).
All in all an interesting Sunday outing which would have been much
more fun without a 4 year old son falling asleep on my shoulder! He
started out with great interest but crashed shortly after arrival. Too
bad, but I was glad to take him to a show and hope to continue such
a car interest. He's been to several big outdoor shows where we take
his wagon. He rides, I pull, we're both happier!
