I think that by swaping the engine the car is no longer THE CAR you had. It
might be a Spit on the outside but not in the inside. I changing my cars too
much from what they were made as. Sure a better fool pump or even a weber or
SK carb but a whole different engine. I wouldn't feel like I was driving my
Brit car with all its character (Character is a nice way of saying all the
crappy things which make the car different) which sets it apart from some of the
characterless cars out today.
In fact just 5 mins ago I watched a new post-doc in our department drive away
in his new Toyota, I thought just like him the car is characterless and
classles(am I being snobby???). I think Brit cars do raise eyebrows and it
does give
an air of character and class.
If what you want is a fast car which looks like a Brit car then that is fine,
I can't think what is wrong with it. But I do feel prowd of my cars when they
perform well and start up on a cold morning. I think wow old car old technology
but it runs great.
So basically its a very personal thing. No rights, no wrongs.
But would want your car to be voted "best nonBritish car"????
Cheers DW
