Sterlings are just Honda Legends with better (British styled)
interiors, body panels and suspension settings. It is possible that Lucas
would have supplied the wiring, dashboard, lights etc., but I would
imagine that the engine's ancillaries (alternator, power steering, A/C
etc.) would be Honda based (the transmission is definitely Honda).
In the UK the Rovers consistently outsell the similar Hondas
(Legends and Concertos) so, as always, it seems here-say, gossip and
image count more than facts. Note though that in the UK the above
Hondas are made by Rover (oops what a giveaway!). Sterling have
definitely pulled out of the US (but not Range Rover).

Range Rovers have a good image in Europe (and the US?) so don't
expect cheap ones coming on to the market.
Extra info: in the UK a 20 year old Range Rover still looks good
and mainly rust free. The engine is the Rover/Buick/TR8 3.5 litre V8 and,
in the UK, secondhand runners can be bought for very little money (200
pounds from a scrapped Rover SD1). The new 1993(?) Range Rover will
be VERY expensive and luxurious (50,000 pounds type money), so the
'image' will be reinforced and cheap ones few and far between. Bad luck
old bean!

I think that Craig Shergold was some dying/nonexistant(?) young person
who wanted a business card from you to get into the Guinness Book of
Records. Basically, it is a chain letter created by some 'person'.

Would I buy a secondhand Rover? Yes, the Sterlings are very cheap here for
the 'amount' of car that you get. Range Rovers are just good. All I need is
some money.

Sorry for the 2 test messages, I have sussed out the problem (fingers), I
initially sent to british_cars instead of british-cars!!!! (habit, I always
use underscores). Thanks to Dean Deeds for the feedback.
