If you see one deer, be on the lookout for
another. Just a reminder for those of us in the
northern states. Last night I had the unfortunate
experience of hitting a deer with my Spitfire. This,
of course, is roughly two months after I painted the
thing. Oh well. I saw the first deer and slowed down
to about 10 or 20 mph. Suddenly another jumps out of the
brush. I got pretty lucky, there is just a slight
dent in the hood. Most of the dammage occurred on the
passenger side door when the hood moved back momentarily
from the impact. Mostly scraped paint. The real scary
thing was the deer was much bigger than the front of the
car. I didn't really hit the deer in as much as it hit
the car. A half of a second difference and it would have
jumped right into the passenger compartment.
By the way, I don't want to hear from anybody who has
sympathy for the deer.
