Thanks to Dale Cook, Ovr Fovnder, New Keeper Of The Flickering Flame, for
reviving the Flickering Flame. I am still here, but alas, the poor sysops
here were not quite up to making british-cars run. (They have enough
problems just keeping the "usual" stuff running. Rnews is uneven, mail
is not forwarded internally like it should be, my X-terminal loses its
cursor every other second, and many activities have a key-response time
of 15 seconds...but that's another story.) Anyway, Dale has things in hand.
I'm having my Spitfire's engine rebuilt. Bummer, but it will be far better
when done. It just kinda' got old all at once. Back when it was running,
it used to get in the 30's for gas mileage. At legal speeds in overdrive,
it got in the upper 30's, pushing 40 mpg. I almost never drove it that way!
Spitfires got different mileage depending on the year, partly because of the
pollution controls but also because of the changes in final drive ratio.
Keep up the mail. Just keep the volume down to a manageable level!
