Interesting about the A001R vs A008R. I never see ANY 001R's
at SCCA events any more. Not even on cars which would definitely
be considered light, like stock Elans. For that matter, I'm
seeing fewer and fewer A008R's, with the number of people
changing over to BFG's (currently the BFG has the advantage,
especially on concrete.) Bridgestone is trying to gain market
share, but their fast tire (RE-61S) isn't Solo II legal.
With their super contingency program, they are quite common
at divisionals and CMC events. They are quite rare at Pro Solos,
though, despite the RE-61S being legal there (but it's not
available in many sizes, and there aren't that many people who
want to deal with the hassle and expense of having a Pro Solo-only
set of tires.) Ah yes, the perenial tire question - I'm sure
Yokohama will have an answer to the BFG's, maybe even at Salina.
They are losing too many people not to do something. Then
there's the radial Hoosier - are they going to push it as
an autocross tire? I would be really surprised if they didn't,
since the racing market is where they (Hoosier) live. Is this
the General-Hoosier cooperation that we heard about a couple of
years ago? General had a decent tire (the XP2000G) except
for the 40,000-mile tread compound (a problem Hoosier knows
how to fix :-) Should be interesting to see what happens...

It's not whether you win or lose,
it's whether I win or lose.
