Tim,

This can be viewed as a "let's make it fit" engineering answer
to your TR-6 head problem. Question #1 is does your old
manifold bolt up to the new head (ignor for the moment the
spacing problem you mention)? If yes, then:

Consider matching the ports of the exhaust manifold to those
of the new head. If the difference is 5/8 vs 7/8 spacing.
There may be enough manifold thickness to accomodate enlarging
the manifold where the mismatch is so there is at least no
blockage of air flow. This solution might not be the ideal
for the best flow of exhasut gases, but it will at least
provide no external changes for you.

If you do consider a later manifold, I can't think of any
reason it shouldn't fit. There may be other exhaust
components that need to be matched, but you'll have to
check that against a TR-6 parts catalog such as those
available from Moss Motors or The Roadster Factory.

Keep us posted as to how this works out.
