The good summary on SU tuning got me thinking about mine so I went and
checked them out last night (it really doesn't get much to get me under
the bonnet) and it made me notice something that's puzzled me for years.
The Healey's got three HS 4's, however, there's a little aluminium tab
on each float chamber (held on by one of the screws) and each one has a
number: AUD14C, AUD14F and AUD14R. The C, F and R mean Centre, Front
and Rear I presume, and sometimes they're even on the right carbs (it a
wonder I've still got the little things considering the zillions of time
s I've had the covers off to unstick the needles). But what does the
AUD14 mean? Then, cast into the covers themselves theres the # AUC1433.
Is this some obscure Brit manufActuring code for "HS 4"? Or (Horrors!) do
my car's numbers not match?
