I can honestly say that no this will not work.  You are dealing with a sheet 
of acrylic plastic with a fiberglass backing.  I have personally heard of many 
different things being tried to flatten these out and all have the same 
success quotient ( 0% )  the problem is the fact that the acrylic is a memory 
plastic that remembers what it was like before it was made into a body part, 
and is 
trying very hard to go back to that.. So hard in fact that it will flatten 
the top edge of a hatch that not only has the fiberglass backing but a steel 
support inside it as well.. Your best solution would be to get a set of 
replacement headlight covers that we at the shop just happen to make that will 
not do 
the warping since they do not have the acrylic.. they are full fiberglass 
reproductions.
