Just junk them.  They actually cause more problems than they are worth.  If 
you have ever heard the term Bricklin Boogie, these are what started it.  They 
caused the rear-end to do a sort of bouncing because the length was not long 
enough to work with the spring.  They also cause the spring to "warp" .. that 
and the bushings on them get torn up because of the forces involved.  You will 
thank yourself later for removing them completely.  The bolt and nut size use 
a 1 1/8" wrench and impact socket to take them out.  Yes I have removed many 
at the shop.
