The area where the windshield meets the hoodline is usually considered a
HIGH pressure area on most cars, including vettes and other sports legends.
This is indeed the reason why hood scoops were *reversed* to face rearward
rather than forward. Scoops facing forward had to be raised considerably to
actually find any +air due to turbulence created by the front end of the
car. Now, for those of us less *grounded* than others, air does NOT flow
smoothly across the length of the hood unless it is the first car to do so.
It is not a plane, it is not a wing, it is a Bricklin, and air turbulence is
much greater.
Of course, there is an inexpensive way to settle this without a wind
tunnel or pixie dust. Just go down to you local party shop and pick up a
box of party streamers and tape the ends to the hood in various locations
along the length and width, then drive.
I, on the other hand, have discovered a strange and wonderful
phenomenon. When I am driving with a Coca-Cola in my hand, the car runs at
least 50 degrees cooler than it does with a Pepsi Cola in my hand. I'm not
sure why this happens, I think it has something to do with proprietary
formulas, but all I know is I *never* leave the house without a six pack of
Coke next to me.
