VIN 1155 was converted to run silicone about 5 years ago - no problems
so far.
The car was on display at the Auburn Cord Duesenberg for about 12 years
and had deteriorated quite badly (fuel and brake systems). Since an
entire brake rebuild was in order - including a master cylinder
replacement - the decision was made to replace the current brake fluid
with silicone. If I remember correctly, all the lines were cleaned with
'carbon-tet' and may have then been flushed with alcohol - I honestly
don't remember.
The car is a 'keeper' and not a daily driver. Since I also live in Ohio,
the car 'hibernates' for extended periods of time. It just seemed to
make sense to convert to a fluid that was not destructive to its
operating environment.
(My 2 cents ...)
