Bricklin - mounting hole for something on top of the right

On top and a bit towards the rear on the right front wheel, visible form
the engine compartment with the hood open, is a hole with two smaller
mounting holes on either side of it.
There's nothing in/on there now and doesn't look like there'd ever been, at
least not for a long while.

Does anyone know what if anything goes/went there?
