Thanks for measuring your wheels, Rick. You are right about those lug nuts 
being a pain. I always have to watch any tire stores that touch them because 
some try to start them with an air wrench rather than starting them by hand 
first. That could easily cross-thread them.

I am a little confused with so many different measurements of backspacing. 
Could the stock wheel really vary that much?

With stock wheels, when I turn the steering wheel all the way, the outer edge 
of the tire comes within about 1/16" of the fender liner (with P235/60R15 
tires). I can see marks where it rubs occasionally. That leads me to believe 
I could be in trouble if the backspacing is just a little off. If we assume 
the stock wheel has about 4.5" backspacing, it seems to me any less 
backspacing would move the tire farther out which would cause it to rub the 
fender liner in a turn. have I got that right? More backspacing would 
eliminate danger of rubbing the fender liner, but increase likelihood of 
rubbing against the frame.
